Summary

Algorithmic and bit-level design of an on-board ASIC for the demodulation of MPEG2 video carriers in EUTELSAT's Hot-Bird IV Satellite. SKYPLEX was launched 27/02/98 from Kourou (French Guyanne) on Arianne IV-V106. Hailed as the first multimedia processor in the sky, it was the forerunner in a generation of regenerative payloads which our research group designed in collaboration with ALCATEL Espacio: from MCDD (HISPANET) to DVB-Forward (AMERHIS).
